Today’s consumers are planet-conscious, expecting brands to share their commitment to sustainability. Brands that neglect their environmental impact are putting their reputation and bottom line at risk.

At Tamperguard, we manufacture tamper-evident materials and security tapes, but we go beyond simply securing your products. We believe in safeguarding the planet as well. That’s why the circular economy is our guiding principle: minimize waste, maximize resource reuse. It’s a commitment that goes beyond words, that is reflected in every aspect of our production process.

This article offers a glimpse into our sustainability journey. Read on to learn about the tangible steps we’re taking to build a truly sustainable business, from energy-efficient manufacturing to groundbreaking recycling initiatives. You’ll see it’s a commitment we take seriously.

Sustainability efforts start in-house

From minimizing waste to maximizing resource efficiency, reducing our environmental impact is an ongoing priority embedded in every facet of our operations.

Resourceful recycling

Maximizing the use of every resource is of prime importance. We recycle and repurpose manufacturing scraps whenever possible. We’ve even invested in a system to recycle liquid by-products, further reducing our environmental impact. And we work with partners to recycle our waste printed materials.

Minimizing transport emissions

We also recognize the impact of transportation on our carbon footprint. That’s why we’ve strategically located warehouses closer to our customers, reducing shipping distances, and minimizing emissions.

Every employee plays a part

Comprehensive training programs for our employees cover everything from waste reduction strategies to efficient water management practices.

This equips our team with the knowledge and tools to make eco-conscious decisions, fostering a company culture where sustainability is a shared responsibility.

Responsible energy consumption

Using energy responsibly requires constant evaluation and a drive for greater efficiency.  Our energy-saving measures range from automatic shut-off systems on equipment to high-efficiency machinery and motion-sensor lighting.

The transition to renewable electricity for heating our facilities also reflects our commitment to maximizing resources and minimizing environmental impact. We recycle the waste heat generated from our manufacturing to heat our building using a state-of-the-art HVAC system.

Net carbon zero manufacturing

Leading by example is important to us. Our manufacturing plant has achieved net-zero carbon emissions, balancing the emissions we produce with an equivalent amount removed from the atmosphere. This commitment to sustainability is further evidenced by our Net Carbon Zero certification, a globally recognized symbol of sustainability achievement and leadership in the built environment. Specifically, we reduce our emissions through energy efficiency and renewable energy use

This milestone underscores our commitment to minimizing our environmental impact. It also encourages others in the industry to follow suit.

But our commitment to sustainability goes beyond our own walls.

Teaming up for a better tomorrow

Creating a truly sustainable future requires a collective effort. That’s why collaboration with eco-conscious clients and suppliers, industry associations, and innovative organizations is essential to our vision.

Reusable packaging

Our packaging is designed with sustainability in mind. Durable materials ensure multiple uses, minimizing the need for disposable packaging. Clients are encouraged to send back the sturdy wooden end boards, cores, and core plugs of the spools their orders were delivered on for repurposing at our facility.

Partnering with the right suppliers

Our commitment to sustainability extends to our supply chain. Partnering with suppliers who prioritize environmentally friendly materials and practices ensures our products are made with the planet in mind, from raw materials to finished goods.

Sustainable sourcing through innovation

As for the materials we use, sustainable options like cellulose and recycled PET film are always our first choice. These materials offer the same performance and security as traditional options but with a significantly lower environmental impact.

Sustainable Tape

Waste innovators

As a founding member of the Consortium for Waste Circularity, we’re all in on promoting innovative recycling technologies like robust gasification.

This process solves the challenge of hard-to-recycle materials, like multi-layer packaging, and can even help reclaim landfills. We’re proud to advocate for this promising technology and to support its development.

The bottom line

At Tamperguard, we’re proving that security and sustainability are not just compatible but essential components of a responsible business. We’re innovating to protect your products and the world we share. Our commitment to transparency, collaboration, and continuous improvement sets us apart.
